one fine night at Tin Pan Alley

Tin Pan Alley restaurant & bar is one of few stylish bistros in Jakarta and it’s located within Thamrin Nine/UOB Plaza. The restaurant was designed to resemble an American-European bistro, complete with brick walls, vintage interior decoration and paintings, and classic tiles. The lightings was set to dim and works well with the tunes that coming out from the stereo. It creates a warm and romantic ambience. The waiters are dressed in white shirts, black pants, and suspender, cute. They also have a live music performance every Thursday night.

The restaurant itself serves American dish with a taste of Mexican and Italian. Starting from salads and soups, juicy burgers and scrumptious sandwiches, pastas, grills, pan sears, and desserts. Me and my hubby actually have visited Tin Pan Alley twice. On our first visit back in June 2012, we’ve ordered:

1. Nachos Grande (49k), crisp corn tortilla chips, homemade cheese sauce, chilli con carne, fresh tomato salsa, shredded lettuce and scallions, served with spicy japaleno and sour cream.

–       We don’t really fond of it, it lacks the Mexican taste on its salsa. –

2. Buffalo Chicken Burger (65k), crispy boneless battered chicken smeared and smothered with Tin Pan Alley’s homemade buffalo sauce tucked in a burger bun. Served with seasoned French fries and coleslaw.

–       This dish is totally recommended !!! The chicken cutlet was huge and tasteful because of the buffalo sauce. Yummy. –

3. Mushroom-stuffed chicken breast with white butter sauce (77k), succulent chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, and cream cheese. Served in a rich white butter sauce with sautéed summer vegetables and mashed potatoes.

–       The chicken was well seasoned, however I felt the chicken is a bit dry so I have to pour a lot of the white sauce over it.-

4. Lychee Ice Tea (25k) and Happy Days (25k)

–       Lychee flavoured tea, nice. As for the Happy Days mocktail, refreshing and filled with lots and lots of kiwi chunks, my hubby loves it a lot.

On January, 2013, we’ve decided to come back to Tin Pan Alley for our regular dinner date. We used the voucher from disdus which is a set menu that consists of:

1. Creamy Tomato Basil Soup (48k), served with a slice of bread.

–       Quite nice, not to sour, simply delightful as a starter. –

Image

2. Creamy Mushroom Soup with Truffle Oil Drops (48k), served with a slice of bread.

–       I like this a lot, the amount of cream is just right, not too creamy. The truffle oil drops strengthen the flavor of the mushroom. –

3. 28th Street Potato Skins (55k), deep fried potato skins and baked. Filled with mixed roasted bell peppers and sautéed chopped spinach then topped with melted mozzarella cheese.

–       We’re not too fond of this dish as we thought the slice of potato as a starter was too thick. But no complain regarding the taste, though. –

4. Caesar Salad (55k)

–       Lack of dressing but taste fine, and me love the croutons. –

Image

5. Orange Glazed Grilled Salmon (129k), 170gr Tasmanian Salmon, freshly fillet, is grilled to perfection and brushed with an orange glaze mixture. Served with sautéed summer vegetables and mashed potatoes.

–       Nyummy, the salmon was fresh and well seasoned, tasted nice as well. –

6. Tin Pan Alley Burger (75k), the All Natural homemade beef burger patty, smeared with signature homemade bbq sauce, served with a slice of cheddar cheese and topped with sautéed mushroom and fried egg. Served with seasoned French fries and coleslaw.

–       The portion was enormous !!! The burger were stacked with layers of beef patty, melted cheddar cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and fried egg. Along with it is a sizeable portion French fries and coleslaw. The beef patty was juicy and tender, not to mention tasteful. No complaints here. –

7. Apple Crumble Pie (40k)

–       A tad too sweet for our tastebuds. –

Image

8. Lemon Cheesecake with Berry Compote (40k)

–       We found the berry compote tasted a bit weird. –

9. Ice Tea (18k)

Overall, we’ve enjoyed the experience eating at Tin Pan Alley. We’ve sure like to come back some other time.
