Val’s dinner at JJ Royal Bistro

I and Mr.D don’t celebrate Valentine’s day…but it’s fun to see how the stores, restaurant, and all of the surrounding dressed up for the occasion. So Mr.D asked me to go for a dinner after office hours that Friday, and off we went to Senayan City. We chose to have our dinner at JJ Royal Bistro, which has been known as one of the hip restaurant to go to right now.

JJ Royal bistro is an elegant restaurant and bar that managed by Foodie Habit Group, the same group that produce Gulaku and JJ Royal coffee. JJ Royal Bistro is located at the ground floor of Senayan City. JJ Royal was decorated with distinctive eclectic manga inspired interior design, colorful walls, chairs, and lights. Not to mention there’s a lot of paintings of a Chinese girl. Here at JJ Royal we can choose from a variety of delicious traditional Indonesian dishes as well as Western dishes.

Since this is our first visit, we don’t want to order too many foods considering we still kinda blind with the portion size. So straight to the main course… Continue reading

For the crispy fried duck enthusiast aka begor (bebek goreng), it’s worth  to try Bebek Edan Cak Topa restaurant. The restaurant is located quite strategically in Jl. Cikajang with buildings painted green so it’s pretty easy to spot from the street. The room interior is decorated with a modern minimalist style, and backed up with a friendly service so that the customer will feel more pampered in their visit.

Dapur Palembang

Out of the blue, suddenly I’m craving to eat pempek. I remembered there is a typical restaurant in Cikajang that specialized in Palembang cuisines. ‘Dapur Palembang’ serves a variety of Palembang cuisines, including the well known Pempek. However, the restaurant also championed some typical food such as Sup Pindang Ikan Patin, Brengkes Belida, Daging Malbi, Celimpungan, Laksan, Mie Celor, Model, Tekwan, Rujak Mie, etc. Assorted Palembang sweet cakes such as maksuba and srikaya are also available in this restaurant. When we arrived, the restaurant was still empty, but rumour said that the restaurant was usually packed during lunch hour by office workers around the area.

That night we ordered …
Assorted regular Pempek (26K) – consists of 5 pieces of pempek (adaan, lenjer, telor, pistel, and keriting). Regular means the pempek made of tenggiri fish. But if we choose ‘special’ means that the pempek made of belida fish (34k). Nice…

Mie celor (17.5 k) – thick yellow egg noodles drowned in gravy made of shrimp stock and light coconut milk. On top of it, the dish were sprinkled with bean sprouts, chopped shrimp, and half sliced boiled eggs. It was extremely delicious…the broth was tasty, the composition of shrimp broth and the coconut milk were in a right fit.

Kwetiaw Sapi A Ciap – Cikajang

Kwetiaw Sapi A Ciap has been long famous since its first branch opened in Mangga Besar. Dozens of reviews said customers were satisfied with their cooking. Pouring rain in Jakarta these days made us craving for hot soup dish.

A Ciap restaurant which located in Cikajang is a house that was transformed into a restaurant. So don’t be surprised when you walked into the restaurant, you will find lots of room and spaces, complete with some house interior such as display cabinet and wall paintings. All of that made the atmosphere feels warm and homey.

That night, I and hubby ordered “Bakmi Kuah Sapi” (28k) with warm hot tea (4k) as the drinks. One plate of noodle comes with lots and lots of beef slices and mustard greens. Steaming hot soup and the fragrant that comes from it made us cannot wait any longer to dig in.

Maaaakkkkknyooooossss…………….so delicious and tasty!!! The noodle textures were delicate, the soup was savory, and the beef were so tender. The broth was so beefy, can‘t say no more…this was the tastiest broth I’ve ever tasted. Fully recommended.

Raja Konro Daeng Naba

Ga berlebihan jika saya bilang kalau ayam pop-nya (14k) Pagi Sore juara banget.

It’s just like love at first bite….tunjangnya dimasak dengan sempurna, empuk bangeett, acung jempol deh.

Gurame Kremes @ Warung Nasi Bu Gendut

Ketika makanannya datang, gw langsung kaget bo’……ukuran guramenya cukup gede, uhuuuuyyyy….tp sempet khawatir bakal ga abis sih (padahal sih tandas licin bo’ pada akhirnya *jadi malu*).
